After creating the pattern, I tested it with scraps from my bin before cutting into the actual fabric for the pillows
I designed and sewed these pillows as silent auction prizes for the ND WIN Fund’s annual fundraiser, Choice Desserts. These fists of empowerment were a fitting design for supporters of an organization whose mission is to support and empower women as they make decisions about their reproductive health and care. After sketching and digitally rendering the designs, the pattern was assembled using the foundation paper piecing method of quilting. I matchstick quilted the background, leaving the fists unquilted for extra emphasis and texture. The fabrics were chosen to loosely resemble diverse skin tones and the backing fabric added a fun pop of color. Can you tell what the pillow backing fabric pattern is?
